The Brilliant Line opens Friday at Rhode Island School of Design’s Museum of Art. The exhibition explores the art of engraving and its rapid transformation during the European Renaissance (1480 – 1650), drawing on work from innovators such as Albrecht Durer.
Aside from the on-site, RISD has launched a fine interactive feature on their website. There you may explore details of chosen engravings and watch a video detailing the steps of engraving. Relatively low tech, but still enough to engage in the technical process behind the prints. The exhibition will run until January 3, 2010.
