Tim Bryne | Furniture Maker

Furniture maker Tim Bryne creates furniture from re-purposed industrial parts. There’s quite a bit of this effort about… often marrying pieces that have no business living together in the first place. Bryne’s vision “a sculptural approach to reassigning function to powerful objects,” works primarily because of his material choices. In the above table, a simple glass top allows the base (born in a mill) to really sing. That’s the glory of Bryne. The found object always at center, Bryne’s furniture celebrates the industrial aesthetic while avoiding a prop like end result.

Bryne also has an innovative streak – adding new mechanical functions to his pieces that reflect old usage and promote the objects new life. (via Daily Milk).

More examples of Bryne’s furniture after the jump.
