Beau Colburn, everyone…

01. Stereo Stack: Vintage LP stereo banners
“A kaleidoscopic-wonderland of hi-fidelity and dual-dynamic vibrancy.” (stereostack)

02. Before Steampunk: Star Wars’ 1800s Robots (above)
“This pair of early rescue masks, shown above, dates from between the mid-1800s and World War I. They look a bit familiar, right? Almost 100 years before Darth Vader and C-3PO hit the big screen in “Star Wars” in 1977, these two smoke helmets were worn by firefighters carrying out rescues in smoke-logged buildings. The buzz among collectors is that George Lucas’s designers must have found inspiration in these smoke helmets and others like them. In fact, one well-known 19th-century manufacturer was named Vajen-Bader—you could easily get the name Vader from that.” (collectorsweekly)

03. Detroit In Ruins
“Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre’s extraordinary photographs documenting the dramatic decline of a major American city.” (guardian)

04. Death Of Banksy
“If the man behind Banksy ever leaves the Banksy organization, or when he dies, will the public ever know? It’s possible that my grandchildren will be able to see “original” Banksy artwork completed a century from now. Banksy seems to have reached the absurd hyperbole of conceptual art: the original artist may not even need to conceive the artwork for it to bear his name. Banksy has finally achieved what Warhol and others set out to: the artist is truly a brand without a human identity.” (vandalog)
