“Mario shot some of the most iconic images of this century. Last year was a particularly memorable one with Kate Middleton and Prince William’s engagement, Kate Moss’s wedding, Charlotte Casiraghi’s only fashion shoot and Jennifer Lopez looking hot in her first images after splitting with Marc Anthony,” the mag’s Editor-in-Chief, Katie Grand, says. “It was an absolute pleasure to work with him on his first project for LOVE; it’s not every day you walk into the Royal Suite at The Gore Hotel to find Kate Moss and Lara Stone yakking away in the back room.” True.
Testino’s two cents: “For me it was very exciting to do the story for the new issue of LOVE. I especially liked mixing the interview with images I have taken of people at moments of laughter over the years, together with the fashion photographs I took specifically for the issue … To me, the magic of photography, per se, is that you can capture an instant of a second that couldn’t exist before and couldn’t exist after. It’s almost like a cowboy that draws his gun. You draw a second before or after, you miss and you’re dead—not them.”
