Francisco van Benthum Autumn/Winter 2012

We are seeing a clean and dapper collection in Dutch designer Francisco van Benthum‘s Autumn/Winter 2012 lookbook. Inspiration here comes from utility clothing designed to help dudes defy the elements, with imagery of “the elegantly dressed hunters from the past, the camel trophy rally and the futuristic technical gear of alpinists” serving as a jumping board.

Suit jackets, pants, shirts, tops and outerwear fill the ranks, all made from the likes of classic fabrics like virgin wool, winter linen and Swiss poplin plus modern textiles like wool chintz, cotton metal, boiled loden and paper wool. Could be the past coming back around, but for all the vintage musing here the end results are undeniably modern, with a few cinched waistlines and billowy tops pushing even harder toward tomorrow.
