Here’s another fine farmhouse ale for you. This specimen is from Boulevard Brewing Co. in Kansas City, home to a temperamental fermenter called Tank 7, in which the recipe for this Belgian ale came together. Available in four packs of 12-ouce bottles and single 750s, this one lays it on you first sip with fruity odors and the flavors of astringent citrus balanced with hops. The crisp finish warrants smacking your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
And again, the struggle with this and many farmhouse ales is that the high abv (8-percent, here) is sublimated by the supreme liquid ease with which it goes down. This is why we’ve adopted a rhythm method that goes: saison-session-sasion-session-etc.
