Beer | Crabtree Brewery Black IPA

For decades, Greeley, Colo. has been famous for the harsh odor that emanates weekly from the ConAgra beef processing plant located there. The city is also home to the University of Northern Colorado—a popular spot for pursuing degrees in the arts—but its new claim-to-fame may well be Crabtree Brewery.

Crabtree’s Berliner Weisse Ale won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival and their new Eclipse Black IPA seems a strong contender in that emerging category. We drool for a good IPA, but even some of our favorites can leave that piney hop taste lingering on the back of the throat for hours. Eclipse opens with a fresh hit of hops, but the crisp malty finish washes the aftertaste away, making for smooth, smooth drinking.

Label shot after the jump.
