It is hot where we are right now, and we are in the mood for an
fast easy-drinking white wine to make Friday night a bona fide reality. This Verdicchio from Azienda Santa Barbara—in Italy’s Marche region—is that cat’s soft, footed pajamas. The varietal is common to the region and this guy has some of the grape’s telltale traits: slight bitterness and a push of floral citrus, for instance. But scant barrel-time has kept our eager pour bright and downright thirst-quenching (just remember to drink two pints of room-temp water between bottles). Under $20.
