An impressive watch from Panerai, the Luminor North Pole GMT. True to its moniker the timepiece was designed to withstand arctic temperatures. Only 500 were made back in 2006 as a tribute to a North Pole expedition taken by Mike Horn and Borge Ousland. A special lube keeps the gears moving properly in Arctic-like temperatures and there is an Arctic ice cap engraved on the back along with the signatures of the super explorers.
Most useful in that regard is the handy ring around the face that allows you to guage the direction by pointing the hour hand at the sun (which is a bit ironic, as the expedition was the first taken to the North Pole in the blackness of 24-hour polar night). Still, good to know that while you might lose your fingers, you will not lose your watch.
