Balenciaga – Spring/Summer 2013 – Runway

Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2013 Runway

Balenciaga leaned heavily towards Japan in terms of influences for Spring/Summer 2013. This meant plenty of volume in cuts, kimono sleeves in outerwear and, pop of floral aside, some purposeful minimalism most noticeably in the labels tailoring. The highlight was the suit, some with a Teddy Boy feel, that worked best in grey silk seersucker – a brilliant use of this brilliant fabric. While the parachute shorts weren’t our thing, nor the oversized red coat that felt more 80s Bea Arthur than anything else, the high-points were enough to keep us very much interested.
