Angelica Dass “Humanae” – Skin Color Pantones

Here is a pretty meta project from Spanish artist Angelica Dass. Humanae assigns alphanumeric pantone colors to different hues of human skin. A straightforward conceit that raises questions about how we classify skin tones in our daily life. Here a menagerie of appearances are rated by numbers that are arbitrary in terms of ranking. The work also adds blush to the Bob Seger classic “Feel Like a Number.“
