Bleu de Chauffe Lightning Bag

Bleu de Chauffe Lightning Bag

Translating from French, Google calls this the Flash Bag. In reality it is the Bleu de Chauffe Lightning Bag, but either name works for something this spiffy. We do not get a lot of electricity or direct heat from it, but the bagmaker’s name means something like “heating blue,” so maybe the fire burns cooly from inside.

More to the point: the shape is good, the leather looks soft and the spirit of the bag speaks to Indiana Jones-ilk adventure. If you had this on and punched somebody, it would probably sound like you slugged a side of beef rigged to a microphone. Not that we are advocating brutish violence—just the bag. Available online.

Semi-interesting fashion fact: Bleu de Chauffe are actually overalls. Literally a “heating blue”
because they were made of blue denim and were used to protect train drivers while shovelling coal into the steam-engine’s boiler (also why we call them “boiler-suits.”)
