For those following my Twitter, you may have noticed that I’ve been working out the Titelmedia office in Berlin. Our staff congregates to the German city right around BBB and Berlin Fashion Week. For me, the trip to Berlin is a slight break from the heatwave in New York City and a chance to take in what I consider to be one of the most inviting and affordable cities in Europe.
In the past, when packing for a month in Berlin, I would stick to two pairs of trainers, but with the current up-tick is killer kicks on the market, I went a bit overboard. Ask around: kicks are back in 2012 and I’m a walking representation of this. Sure, some will say they never went away, but it’s clear from Pitti to Paris that trainers are dominating the moment.

Cole Haan Lunargrand Chukka
While technically not a trainer, the Lunargrand Chukka with the Nike Lunarsole is easily the most comfortable hybrid shoe I have worn in some time. The look on the outside is classic chukka form; the feel is that of a well cushioned Nike. For the days I need to dress it up for a moment.
Nike Ralston Lunar Mid TZ
I packed this Tier Zero release Nike as an alternative to the Lunargrand Chukka. The granite color offset by the neon Lunarlon sole offers me a break from the majority of black trainers in my luggage. As comfortable as the Lunargrand.
Pro-Keds x Play Clothing Royal CVO Canvas Floral
Quite possibly one of the powerhouse floral trainers of 2012. The pattern: unique and bolder than most on the market. The low-top wears well with just about anything, though they get dirty faster than most here. I have beat the shit out of these.
Nike SB Stefan Janoski Perforated Low
A Spring 2010 release, they still look damn good and feel amazing. If you have not tried on a pair of Janoski sneakers, you should. Difficult to beat in the comfort category. The only whites I packed. Do not let the SB turn you off: these work on and off the skateboard.

Nike Free Run+ 3 Black
This one is killing it in Europe at the moment thanks to some serious wear through by the cool kids in Milan. Difficult to find in store, the Free Run+ 3 is a major upgrade to the Free Run 2 in the support department. The all-black version above works against everything. The most versatile pair in the luggage.
Converse Shooter First String IV Ox Black
The best low release of 2011 if you ask me. The inside is lined in soft leather. The outer is black canvas sitting on top of a concealed Lunarsole. Impossible to beat on the simple and casual front. This is my second pair.
Nike HTM Trainer+ Flyknit
Come on. I had to bring some heat. This is the shoe that brought me back to Nike in 2012. Lightweight, innovative, and forward looking. The inline retail versions will sell-out very fast. Have no doubts on that.
ps: for those curious, this is not a sponsored post. I rock what I love and right now, these seven are doing it for me.
