The iconic “Stool 60″, originally designed in 1933 by Alvar Aalto is a recognizable symbol in Finnish design. To celebrate his 80th birthday, Artek paid tribute by commissioning the acclaimed artistic duo Grönlund-Nisunen to create a massive installation, Stool 60 Composition at the Stockmann Argos Hall. The installation featured 400 stools whose palette borrowed directly from the colors used in Aalto’s Paimio Sanatorium (1928–1933): the yellow of the floors, the green of the walls, and the orange, white and black of the furniture. And these Anniversary Edition stools will be on sale in the Argos Hall for the first time.
