Nick Sullivan The Way I Dress Mr Porter

Dorset born U.S Esquire fashion director Nick Sullivan puts his trousers on one leg at a time like the rest of us. Beyond that it’s no hats, no hoodies, no black and definitely no tie clips – if you wear one he reckons you guys probably wouldn’t get on. Mr Porter hears his thoughts on fashion/style/dressing as he gets ready in his Brooklyn home, the Queen keeping watch.

To be honest i can’t stand Mr Porter, and i can’t stand people in “fashion” who put restraints on what they think others should be wearing. His look is nothing original and the pages of his magazine are always white middle of the road all America boy with bright white smiles and floppy hair that fits one mould. As he has his dislikes in fashion, mine are people like him who show no diversity in their models with minority, sizes and heights, and Mr Porter for doing the same. I’d rather buy and read elsewhere

kind of wanted to “like” that…but really didn’t.
I guess it was the underlying negativity and total lack of affirmation. Perhaps if he had actually gotten into what it might mean to appreciate style/fashion of the basis of design and/or craft…
but all he really told me is what he does not like. Why would I care?

mr. porter is an embarrassment for being slavish to “heritage” to appear stylish and not fashionable…then they toss in some Rick Owens for a dash of the wild. real editorial mess. no sense of honest good fun.

what was up with the geezer trousers…bad jeans or bad slacks?!?!

The guy is doing his job his way, although I can’t agree with most of his DON’Ts especially the “no tie clips” one. Clips are a good touch if used the proper way in the right situation (as with almost everything else).
