The November 1965 issue of Playboy magazine – given to me as a gift simply for referencing “The Girls of Germany” on the cover – is filled with more than just fold-outs and beautiful faces. This particular issue housed a feature, “The Playboy Cars – 1965:” a beautifully illustrated look at the automobiles of the year.

Rendered and illustrated by Ben Denison, the same illustrator who famously drew the first cartoon in Playboy back in 1953, the feature highlights classic vehicles including Rolls-Royce Mulliner-Park Ward Convertible; the Mercedes- Benz 230SL; Cobra Hardtop; the Aston Martin DBS Convertible and GT; and many others.

Glad to find this page. I worked with Ben at Wilson/Lund Advertising in Moline Illinois in ’77,’78.
Got to look over his shoulder as he did illustrations for John Deere. Great talent and a great storyteller.
