Selfridges, London announce the arrival of their No-Noise Campaign

Celebrating the “power of quiet” Selfridges department store asks everyone one to shut-up in allocated sections of the store during No-Noise January. The Silence Room, an idea that Harry Selfridge himself thought up way back in 1909, will showcase minimalist design at its best with the help of The Idler and Headspace. You’ll be asked to remove your shoes, hand over your mobile devices and hush ya lips. Additionally, The Quiet Shop sees some top brands remove all labels from their clothing in an attempt to dampen down the screams of ‘I’M DESIGNER.'”As we become increasingly bombarded with information and stimulation, the world is becoming a noisier place.  In an initiative that goes beyond retail, the unique project invites you to see the beauty in function and find calm among the crowds.” As anyone who has ventured into the Christmas hell that is Oxford Street right now, this shhhh initiative will be a much welcome rest from the incessant gabbing of over-excited shoppers. If anyone in charge is reading, please extend this to Sainsburys Camden Town.
