Artist Nick Cave to Fill Grand Central Station NYC with Colourful Horses

For HEARD•NY, part of the MTA Arts for Transit project with the help of Creative Time, artist Nick Cave will fill the Grand Central Terminal with incredible, handcrafted raffia ‘Soundsuit’ horses operated by students from The Ailey Dance School. ‘The Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall will be transformed with a herd of thirty colorful life-size horses that will peacefully “graze” and periodically break into choreographed movement—or “crossings”— accompanied by live music.‘ Part of the iconic station’s centennial celebrations,  the performance looks to break the everyday routine of commuting with something otherworldly, as Cave puts it “I try to create a moment that brings us back to dreaming and fantasy, to a state of mind where we can think about alternative ways of being.” This looks amazing. Press play below and head to the gallery.

Performances will take place  Monday 25 March – Sunday 31 March at 11am and 2pm daily at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.
