Usually when we think of coffee in beer, it’s a dark-as-night roast in an even darker Imperial stout, so this Dayman Coffee IPA is a nice surprise. Excess hops and coffee might seem like an odd pairing, but the flavors here seem to come from a lighter roast: piquant, berry-like, a little bit floral, even. Part of Stone‘s compelling 2013 collaborations series, Dayman features the lended ladles of Aleman and Two Brothers: two Chicago brewing outfits, the latter having recently branched out into coffee roasting.
