If you were “blogging” about the menswear in Japan during the 2000’s, you likely turned to Japanese magazines and periodicals for inspiration and insight to what was happening in Tokyo. Available through various retailers – from Japanese bookstores and speciality shops to bodegas offering in-store subscription services – Japan’s menswear magazines opened the door to the movements and trends flowing through Asia and beyond. While difficult to read by non-native speakers, publications like HUGE and Men’s Non-No were essential reads on the ever changing styles of Japan’s fashion crowd. Those paying close attention would even fall upon obscure collaborative works and Japan-only exclusives.
