Christopher Raeburn Spring Summer 2014: Backstage

Keeping up the LC:M coverage, we head backstage at Christopher Raeburn Spring Summer 2014, catching the run-through and more. SANDSTORM explores Raeburn’s “ongoing notion of protection” with this collection inspired by World War Two’s Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) and the incredibly diverse range of fabrics that make up desert combat uniform. A line researched down to the last stitch, standouts include a Schoeller 4-Way stretch fabric bomber featuring satellite desert imagery, a draw-cord waist field jacket made from ’50s rubberised camo bivouac sheets, a beautiful tailored gabardine mac in lizard print and a collaboration with Porter bags for a Remade In Japan range. Pink finds its way into the collection, a military reference of course – this soft shade found on LRDG Land Rovers. Once again, Raeburn pulls out a sharp, wearable collection with more detail than you can shake a stick out. Simply brilliant.
