It took five years for Zurich-based architecture firm Gramazio & Kohler to construct this home for a private client. Completed in 2009, the house still garners attention for its innovative design and structural beauty. The exterior is made up of 315 uniform wooden slats that elongate the small home and act as filters of natural light. A reinterpretation of the traditional house gable, the slats also give the angular construction a distinctly modernized look. The exposed concrete walls and matte black roof and floors complete the contemporary design of this unique piece of architecture.
