The Böle Tannery – Sustainable Leathers From Northern Sweden

Swedish brand Böle look to old-fashioned methods when it comes to their beautiful leather goods. With sustainability at the heart of everything they do, a family business working out of a tannery established in 1899 on the banks of Pite River in Northern Sweden, each item is made to last and to cause as little disruption to the environment as possible. Their chosen tanning method uses tree bark, spruce to be exact, and water, creating a distinctive grain without the use of chemicals with leathers a byproduct of animal husbandry, any waste that leaves the plant completely biodegradable. “Being a 4th generation family business we continue to do business in accordance with local industrial traditions and in synergy with the nature and native people of our land.” Their range is huge, from picture frames and golf bags to rucksacks and briefcases, these guys even produce for the Swedish Royal Family. Swish. Take a look in the gallery for more.
