See Casa C, a House Within a House, in Reckingen, Switzerland

This all-wooden structure by Zurich-based Camponovo Baumgartner Architects was carefully built inside of a preserved veneer of a 100 year-old hay barn. The impeccably clean birch inlay contrasts well against the darker and older exterior, twice detached from the other shell, creating extra space for the entrance and hallways. All of the surfaces are made from untreated wood, either natural birch or larch, that are intentionally exposed to deterioration. Browse the gallery for the incredible views inside and out.
