Watch Aesops Italian Futurist Manifesto Video Radiant Electric Heart

For the launch of Aesop‘s Italian Futurist Assembly Kits, the Australian skincare brand releases this video reinterpreting the Futurist’s Manifesto. First written and performed in 1909 by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, the founder of Futurism, the manifesto is one of the most historically symbolic prose in Italian literature. Against dramatic violin music, a woman cites (and sings) the movingly poetic manifesto. Watch below, and shop Aesop’s Futurist Assembly Kits here.

This interpretation of the Futurist manifesto leaves out the parts that say “We will glorify war —the world’s only hygiene…and scorn for women…We will destroy the museums, libraries, academies of every kind”

This is a dangerous repackaging of what was a very real violent, fascism movement in Italy.

I am quite surprised just a few made the link between futurism and fascism. Wonder whether it is just the Aesop marketing move to sterilise old art movement for media purpose or do they really stand for it? Pretty packing indeed but manifesto video takes it one step further.. made me look for hand cream somewhere else..
