We take a look inside the lengthy-titled “Giving Warmth to the Building Skin: The World of Gio Ponti, Father of Modern Italian Design” in Kokame, Japan. Designed by the brilliant Torafu firm, the work of the legendary Italian architect and maker is broken down into four sections, the interior wall, the window, the floor and the exterior wall. Exploring his use of both the hand and machine made, this modernist icon’s catalogue spans furniture, ceramics, lamps, glassware as well as founding Domus magazine and, oh, creating modernist towers, museums and churches around the world. If you’re lucky enough to be in the area, stop by, if not, take the tour in our gallery.
