Casa V, a new architectural project in Oleiros, Spain, renovates a fifty year-old family vacation home into a new modern masterpiece. The innovative design builds on old features, creating a private rooftop garden from the old structure with a new wing. The Spanish dwelling is also very environmentally conscious: the window orientation allows for increased solar incidence, naturally heating the home via the greenhouse gas effect. The structure seamlessly inhabits the surrounding ecosystem with a continuous flowing façade, with no edges, corners, colors or textures. Casa V solves the spatial problems of the old house while reinventing the efficiency of the building, minimizing maintenance and energy-related costs. Browse the gallery.
