Inside The Kirkpatrick House Michigan Designed by The Legendary George Nelson

Herman Miller blog WHY offer a glimpse into an exceptional example of midcentury architecture and design. Created for the Kirkpatricks in 1954, the Kalamazoo, Michigan home is the work of architect and friend of the family George Nelson, design director to Herman Miller and a don of midcentury design. Restored with great care by Dave Corner, an obsessive Herman Miller collector, the remarkable space combines practical, functional design and a strong aesthetic sensibility that sums up the best of the era. Clean lines, bold, deep hues and a playfulness that never slipped over into wacky. Take the tour in our gallery.
