The new Herzog & De Meuron designed Perez Art Museum, Miami, plays host to Ai Weiwei “According to what?” Described as “the first major international survey of this vital artist’s multifaceted artistic oeuvre,” the multimedia show covers film, photography, sculpture, architecture and audio from the past twenty years, the theme of the individual within society the thread that brings his diverse work together. Arguably the centrepiece of “According to What?” ‘He Xie,’ translated as ‘River crab,’ displays a crowd of porcelain crabs, the title similar to the Chinese for ‘Harmonization,’ the piece plays with ideas around censorship and state control. Head to the gallery for more from the exhibition.
