This three-story Fairhaven Beach House in Victoria, Australia is located above Great Ocean Road, overlooking a series of bays, parks and beaches on the coast. From the outside, the building is sharply modern, with silver geometric spaces protruding in all directions. The inside, however, is all lined with warm wood which darkens in shade as the rooms become more private. The architects’ intension was to create a sense of suspense and exploration by dynamically angling the walls, carefully but dramatically revealing the expansive ocean views. The beach house features a dining room that opens up to the outside as well as a courtyard in the middle of the U-shaped structure that allows for privacy and escape from sea winds.
