Our friends at Eastman Leather Clothing send over this exclusive, the debut lookbook from their latest project, ELMC. Best known for his flawless replicas of classic American and British military outerwear, Gary Eastman now turns his attention and leather skills to biker jackets and all the accompanying good stuff you’d need to join the ELMC. Eastman describes the collection as “high quality, bench made authentic goods” taking inspiration from “the whole west coast, post-war, motorcycle club culture, bringing in influences from ex-servicemen clothing to reservation jewellery.” So, at the centre of the range are the vegetable-tanned Italian horsehide jackets, hides custom made for the project and cut and sewn in the label’s Devon workshop. Details are everything with this crew, expect touches such as 100% rayon satin linings, 100% unbleached cotton-drill for pockets and hand-made cats-eye Corozo buttons, setting these leathers apart. Layering up, Eastman have brought in the best, Japan-based John Lofgren, a much-respected repro maker and vintage expert, to create sweats and tees. Body-size tube construction, slub yarn cottons, all produced on vintage loop-wheel looms, the half-zip sweats and two-tone v-stitch crewnecks look particularly sharp. If that hasn’t got you forming a queue, ELMC also offer a whole stack of other bike-related goods such as trucker wallets, Native-American style jewellery, footwear, helmets, bags and belts. Get to know this exceptional new label via their 2014 lookbook waiting over in the gallery and head to the website for the launch on 1 February .
