Seoul’s Bagstage Gallery 0914 opens Bag is History – Bag is His Story, a temporary installment on the history of men’s bags. Bagstage explores the cultural significance of bags through approaches in art, design, journalism and social studies, offering a multimedia educational and entertainment experience.
Chungkeol Lee, editor-in-chief of GQ Korea, curates Bag is History, documenting stories on his own bags as well as those of Martin Luther King, Andy Warhol, Frank Sinatra and more. They “offer a rare glimpse into the messages of good will, self-absorption, glory and shame” of the carriers through photos, videos and essays. The gallery also includes a DIY workshop where visitors can experience handbag making for themselves. Find more information here and visit the space, open now through March 30, at 536-17 Shinsa Dong, Gangnam Gu.
