Japanese design firm Nendo have popped up on these pages for projects as diverse as edible chocolate paint sets and monochrome globes for Monocle. Here, they go for something a little more standard with furniture design for Danish company BoConcept. The coming together of two aesthetics which have always shared a certain affinity, the collection is being pushed as Japan Meets Denmark. Central, the use and respect of natural materials such as leather and wood, working with rather than transforming them, allowing their inherent qualities to shine. And functionality. Don’t forget functionality. An over-used word but something which Nendo, with all it’s quirky detail and humorous approach, takes very seriously. Available in April, a sofa, day-bed, chair, table, rug and clock will bring together the best of both parties. See them all in the gallery.
