The “Elastic Perspective” Bridge by NEXT Architects

NEXT Architects build the “Elastic Perspective” bridge in The Netherlands that overlooks the city of Rotterdam. The art installation is inspired by an impossible shape – the Möbius Strip – in this case a set of stairs that is non-navigatable. The rusted steel structure beautifully integrates into the surrounding landscape and is very inviting. At first glance, the structure will take you full circle back to your starting point, but at its apex one realizes that the journey is impossible and must return. The journey is meant to be a reflection of the suburb of Barendrecht that it exists in, a part of Rotterdam but a separate entity in itself.
