The Zielturm Wooden Observation Tower on Lake Rotsee

Quietly perched on Lake Rotsee, Switzerland sits the ‘Zielturm’ Wooden Observation Tower constructed by Andreas Fuhrimann Gabrielle Hächler Architekten. The three-story wooded structure is utilized for only three weeks out of the year during the World Rowing Cup for official observers. The structure was pre-fabricated from treated pine wood built on pillared concrete above the water. In the off season (most of the year) the tower remains closed, becoming sculpturesque atop the still waters.
