Buyer’s Guide: 5 Sunglasses for Spring 2014

Spring is just around the corner; here is a list of some of our favorite shades for the season. Look for classics from Ray Ban, SUPER and others. We happen to love the clip-ons.

Our Q&A with the Saturdays Surf NYC Team

The three gents from the New York City surf company sat down for a conversation with Jason Dike. In his words: “They’ve made a steady but rapid progression from third-party brand store to their own range, a magazine, and a collaboration with Colette. We spoke with Colin Tunstall, Josh Rosen and Morgan Collett about all this and more. ”

Leather Works Minnesota Toothpick Holder

Why not store your toothpicks in a leather case like this one. The four-person team from Leather Works hand assembles each of these. Add it to your pocket arsenal.

“The One” Watch by Komono

This minimal watch crossed our screens this week. “The One” by Komono is a one flavor wristwatch available in one color, one size with a rubberized band. It prices in at $131 which is a friendly price for everyone.

Watch the making of Burberry Trench Eyewear

Burberry’s Trench Eyewear collection is introduced through this short video showing how fine craftsmen make and assemble the frame, and many parts, by hand. “The video parallels this process with the careful construction of their iconic trench coats.”

Fruit of the Loom’s Contemporary Line, Seek No Further

America’s prominent undergarments and basics maker, Fruit of the Loom, tapped designer Dorothée Loermann to bring “a sophisticated edge to the irreverent spirit and easy to wear staples of its parent label.” Look for recycled, selvedge denim; crewnecks and more in their debut collection.

Malin + Goetz Cannabis Hand and Body Wash

Malin + Goetz infuse a cannabis scent into an all-natural hand and body wash. While no active ingredient is used in the wash, the properties of cannabis may be a selling point with the modern marijuana movement. We’ll let you decide.

Tim Coppens Drawstring Backpacks

Designer Tim Coppens delivers this backpack that is a favorite here. As Lena tells us, “A leather-trimmed nylon backpack in military green, somewhere between functional and just plain handsome. A drawstring closure, orange leather front panel, white clip straps, mesh back panel and an internal laptop pocket may not justify the heavy price tag but do make for an all-round top choice if you’re looking for something to throw your cash at.”

Great American-made Basics from Dyer & Jenkins

From a successful Kickstarter campaign, Dyer & Jenkins puts forth basics – t-shirts, crewnecks – with two cuts of denim jeans made from both American and Japanese selvedge denim fabric at affordable prices.
