Selectism Buyer’s Guide | Colorful Socks for Spring 2014

Socks are often an overlooked aspect to an outfit. They get thrown under a pant leg, and forgotten about forever. But whether you’re using a pop of color to accent your wears or simply rocking a pair with your favorite PJ’s, we found some great options for you for this spring season. Enjoy below.

Anonymous ISM Mixed Yarn Socks

To start things off, we have a cool pair of mixed yarn socks from Anonymous ISM. It comes in a few different warm colorways with ribbed knitting that is sure to be comfortable. Made in Japan and available at Couverture and The Garbstore. ($20)

Richer Poorer and Mohawk Man Socks

These three patterned pairs come from a collaboration between Richer Poorer for Mohawk Man. The choices of striped and printed socks are distinct and great options. ($20)

Nice Laundry Rebel Socks

Colorful socks don’t necessarily have to feature loud patterns, and Nice Laundry give us two good examples. A common problem with nice socks is that they lose their feel after a few washes, but the folks over at Nice Laundry engineered these beauties to ensure they maintain their quality overtime. ($39 for a pack of 6 pairs)

Meundies Combed Cotton Socks

Meundies’ motto is that there is a sock for every occasion, and we agree. These interesting red patterned pairs add a little pop of color to any outfit. Rock them covered up, or exposed with a rolled-up pant leg. ($12)

Folk Melange Socks

Folk Clothing give us classic variations of their heavy wool knit Melange sock. With the thick and comfy nature of these socks, we suggest they are the perfect pair for around the house. ($12)

J.Crew Dot Cotton Socks

J.Crew admits there is a time and place for plain socks, but these ones are for a day that calls for a little extra. The fun polka-dot pairs come in three variations. ($15)

Sperry Top-Sider Crew Socks

Sperry Top-Sider present a few pairs with plaid and associated stripes. The brand pride their socks for their softness, with a combed cotton 200 thread count. It will be hard to take these off at the end of the day. ($10)

Marwood for MR PORTER Mohair Socks

These aren’t necessary “colorful,” but we couldn’t leave them out. The mohair threads are hand-dyed and come from the coats of Corrymoor angola goats. The socks combine durability with luxury, and are non-itchy. ($65)

Chup Bergen Socks

Bergen socks from Chup are Norwegian-inspired and take from the colors of the locations surrounding foliage and wooden warehouses. The pairs bring together a variety of brightly-dyed threads, featuring elastic ankles to ensure comfort. ($32)

Marimekko Palk Socks

Marimeko give us a nice bold but simple sock option with these cotton-blend pairs. The socks are not over-the-top nor boring, but just right. Try them out in formal or casual attire. ($26)

Mark McNairy for Etiquette Clothiers No-Show Socks

Colorful and no-show rarely overlap, for obvious reasons. But this interesting pair form Mark McNairy was too good to leave off our list. Try them with your summertime loafers. ($15)
