MET Museum Release Comprehensive Archive for Free, “The Collection Online”

The Metropolitan Museum of Art release The Collection Online, over 394,000 images of works displayed in the past and present as well as those never before seen. Most of the images are downloadable for free for non-commercial use, and can be filtered by time period, place of origin, type of medium, artist, and more. It’s incredible how the MET managed to accomplish such a daunting task, organizing that amount of data into one searchable platform. Here, we gawk at some of our favorite vintage photographs found from all over the world that date centuries back. To experience all the comprehensive content yourself, visit the MET’s website.
