Massimo Vignelli, the creator of some of today’s most legendary communications and industrial designs, passed away last Tuesday at the age of 83. Vignelli was responsible for those handy New York City subway maps and the iconic Bloomingdale’s Brown Bag paper bags. His timeless work has also graced the likes of Ford and American Airlines, earning him the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum’s National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement. He will be remembered as someone who shaped a century of design.
