Cartoonist David Shrigley Turns London’s Sketch Restaurant Pink

Turner nominated artist David Shrigley, best known for his satirical, deadpan images of everyday life and talking animals, becomes Sketch restaurant’s latest Artist in Residence, following in the footsteps of Martin Creed who took over the space in 2012. A complete overhaul of the main dining room, soft pink art deco furniture and objects designed by India Mahdavi are accompanied by 265 drawings by Shrigley, all created especially for this project. The artist also got his hands on the ceramics, the restaurant now serving on humourous illustrated plates and bowls, salt and pepper shakers marked ‘Dust’ and ‘Dirt.’ With food from Michelin starred chef Pierre Gagnaire, take a look inside via the Crane.tv film below and in our gallery.
