Editor’s Selections | 10 Highlights of the Week

We’re in the home stretch of August and a week away from Labor Day here in the U.S.A. Fall is around the corner as is New York fashion week, and before business gets hectic again with runway shows and parties galore, let’s take a moment and enjoy the remainder of the summer.

We end this week with a selection of stories and articles from the week that brought us to Las Vegas for men’s market, new footwear from Red Wing and Cole Haan; a strong, new Cali-inspired collection from Levi’s Japan; and online-only erotic thrillers. Catch up now on the week that was Selectism.

A Complete Look at The Beatles in Mono 180-Gram Vinyl Box Set

Hardcore The Beatles’ purists have been asking for this box set since the band’s original catalog was reissued digitally in 2009 and on stereo vinyl in 2012. Based on folklore, The Beatles themselves preferred the mono mixes of their albums to the stereo ones. Now, for the first time in decades, their full original catalog is back in mono form on vinyl.

Red Wing Heritage Blacksmith Work Boot Collection

Thomas Welch likes this new collection from Red Wing: “The Blacksmith boot [is] a truly classic working man’s boot. Red Wing inform us that this style of shoe became very popular in rural America circa early 1900s — One would wear the boots in the field or workshop back in the day and then polish them up for a night out on town. Versatility at its finest.”

A Closer Look At The Cole Haan Zerogrand

We take one more look at the debut colorways in the new Cole Haan ZeroGrand shoe. We’ve personally tried them on and can attest to their very lightweight ride and over all comfort. While many hybrid shoes miss the point, the ZeroGrand hits it right with traditional brogue details merged with injection-molded sole. Did we mention the ZeroGrand is excellent with or without socks? We love the all-black look.
