Swedish design continues to be at the forefront of mens fashion right now. Julian Red Jeans is no exception. With a Spring/Summer 2008 offering that features extra long t-shirts mixed in with flat front sweaters, raincoats, and more, there is sure to be something unique for every man.

Italy outwear maker, Fay is making a further push in the USA market, according to DNR. "Fay, the Italian outerwear brand, is out to make a name for itself stateside.
The Fay collection, including sportswear and outerwear, moved into the Barneys New York flagship on Madison Avenue last winter and, come fall, it will be rolled out to four additional Barneys doors...The business was founded in 1980 with one hit product, the “4-Hook” coat, inspired by American firemen’s coats."

DNR is reporting that luggage maker Tumi is opening new doors on Wall Street. "The upscale luggage and accessories maker will open the doors today to its newest store at 67 Wall Street as part of an effort to raise the brand’s visibility within the financial services community...The 1,100-square-foot-space reflects the new upscale boutique concept created by Tumi’s chief creative officer, David Chu, who was brought on board last year to help reposition the brand as a larger and more fashionable player in the luxury market."
Sock maker Falke has issued a nice collection of knitwear for the the gentle of men. Available in strong grey, navy, and red colors, the cardigans and jumper collection is made of an 82/18 wool/cotton mix yarn that makes their garments German durable.

Blackbird Seattle just received their shipment of Diet Butcher's Slim Skin Collection featuring these great leather boots. "The official color is listed as dark brown but it is such an interesting shade which in some areas appears almost as a very deep purple. Just by handling these you can really see such a huge amount of hand workings which went into them, including the nailed inner and outer soles, incredible stacked heel, and dye processing." London's Telegraph published an intereesting editorial on the state of mens jeans calling out for a move away from the "drainpipe" look and for designers ot start considering the over-30 crowd. "Added to the woes of the average jean-seeker, brands such as Cheap Monday and American Apparel have pushed drainpipes, a cut that gives a spray-on look that requires an underfed frame, so it's not one that many over the age of 30 need attempt." Writer Charlie Porter (who is also Associate editor at GQ UK) sings the praises of Acne's "The Gentleman's Jean."

Dont expect this one to race. We're hearing that the new vessel looks completely different. As, Puma is launching a performance gear line and lifestyle line around the team to hit the market in May.
A pretty amazing pair of Levis turned up on Ebay last week. The pair of vintage "Big E" denim are not only dated back to around the late 1940's but their a size W34 L75 - Long! From the auction description, "The leather not paper patch reads: Lot 501SXX W34 L75... The best I can recall my dad saying was these were made special for someone that wore stilts and walked around, I'm not sure if it was the L.Aco.fair or the World fair and are from the late 40s or eairly 50s. I'm 49yrs. old now so it has been some time and I had forgot all about them till my dad past away. I've been keeping up on old LEVI'S for a few years now and have never seen or heard of another like these." The auction looks to have ended with zero bids but I would not be surprised if these ended up in an archive in San Francisco any day now. (via d&r)

Ever since Kris Van Assche launched his own label and took over the reigns at Dior Homme, after Hedi Slimane left, we have been watching him and especially his work. Dior Homme collections still look good and also his own line is nicely developing.
Here we give you a look at his Spring/Summer 2008 high top sneakers. The sneaker comes in various metallic colorways and and also in solid white and black with patent accents. We especially like the lacing on these, it's different from any other sneaker out there. Pics via Skeleton Legs.

Taking inspiration from vintage clothing seems basic on the surface. However, rarely do people push beyond the basic rehashing of old themes and looks. Garbstore is about capturing a feeling in manufacturing and detail. Against the rash of retro style and nostalgic graphic pilfering, this approach is certainly refreshing. It proves the benefits of looking closely at material culture and extracting lessons from that exercise.
Having founded One True Saxon, and helmed R. Newbold and Red Ear in the Paul Smith empire, Ian Paley’s reputation speaks for itself. His experiences, no doubt, have provided him with necessary tools to pick apart aspects of the old and re-imagine them so cleanly. Garbstore is a brand hinged directly on the quality of its product and the joys of making new items.

We caught on a little late onto this, but nevertheless we wanted to show it to you. Louis Vuitton made a special collection of luggage for "The Darjeeling Limited" movie by Wes Anderson.
The collection consists of many Louis Vuitton long time classics, featuring a safari design on premium brown leather. Unfortunately the collection never went on sale, and was auctioned off after the movie came out.
If you are lucky you come across some pieces on eBay, but we doubt it. After the jump more images.
