Rapha Team Issue Condor Leggero

Selectism - Rapha Team Issue Condor Leggero

Everything is pushing towards that 8-8-08 date for the opening of the Olympics. London's seminal cycling company, Rapha is no exception. They have just launched their Team Issue Condor Leggero Bicycle. Building this carbon fiber beat is no easy feat. "To build such a bespoke carbon frame obviously takes time, even for a skilled frame builder. In fact it takes days for one of Condor's craftsman to hand-cut the tubes and bond them to the carbon lugs. Then they must meticulously wrap carbon strips around each mated join one by one, enabling the builder to use carbon more effectively and therefore build both a lighter more durable frame."

The Team Issue Condor retails for just around 2800Ł. More views after the jump.

Breaking the Menswear Mold with Duckie Brown

Fashion

Selectism - Breaking the Menswear Mold with Duckie Brown

The Washington Post published a great story on the design duo behind Duckie Brown,  Daniel Silver and Steven Cox, entitled "Breaking the Menswear Mold." "The designers, who launched their label in 2001, have an affection for bold colors, unusual fabrics, sequins, embroidery and droopy crotches. The brand's distribution is limited, as not a lot of men have the wherewithal to dress up in an ivory organza blazer such as the one from the spring collection. But its customer base is dotted with boldface names, and in 2007 Cox, who is British, and Silver, who is Canadian, were nominated for best menswear designers by the Council of Fashion Designers of America." The story also mentions the coming Florsheim/Duckie Brown Collection as well as notes on the cotton and nylon trench coat shown above. Haute Concept reports that it is a showpiece only and not for retail. Bummer.

The Uno - One Wheeled Motorcycle

Gadgets

Selectism - The Uno - One Wheeled Motorcycle

Motorcycle Mojo Magazine reviews "The Uno" which is a custom single wheeled motorcycle that remind many of the Segway... but more Akira like. "This year's show, however, had one very unusual one-off custom, the Uno. The orange and grey coloured Uno made its first public appearance balanced on its two side-by-side wheels and its footpegs. Looking more like it should have been ridden by George Jetson as he pulled up to his space platform, it looked out of place amid the other custom creations in the building. Perhaps that's why it garnered so much attention. Since no one has ever seen a machine like this, the first question asked by on-lookers was: What is it?" (via MAKE)
