The latest streamlined iPod/iPhone sleeves to enter the market comes courtesy of, James Teal and Monie.Ka, the Austrian duo behind the label Working Class Heroes. They craft each of their multi-functional, felt cases out of their studio in the Viennese countryside. Made from 100% wool felt and premium aniline leather, these MP3 cases have a bespoke quality, a theme that carries through in the line's current distribution: an online shop on do-it-yourself web giant Etsy. In addition to MP3 cases, Working Class Heroes also creates laptop "wallets," eyewear cases, and moleskine pouches, all created in the same made-to-order manner.
Puma has hired avant-garde designer Hussein Chalayan as creative director, a new role designed to give a fashion-forward edge to the brand. At the same time, Puma has taken a majority stake in the label Hussein Chalayan, which has struggled to build a business as big as its creator's reputation. At the heart of the collaboration is Chalayan's involvement in technology, which he describes as "the only thing in the world that can create anything new." (IHT)

Attention Canadians: CBC TV this evening will be presenting Blue Jean Confidential, a documentary covering (as you expect) the history of denim and the present day, non faltering denim craze. "Blue Jean Confidential takes you around the world and into the closets of the designers, the models who parade them and the obsessed who collect them by the hundreds. Denim is everywhere and designers are battling to make their creations the new 'it' label."
Blue Jean Confidential airs tonight on CBC TV at 8pm.
Sweden's Rickard Lindqvist "Assymetrical Cardigan" for S/S 08 may throw the balance off for some, but when but when buttoned closed, give the garment a bunched bulk feel. Some may try to warn you of a misguided buttoning technique. Others will appreciate the unique silhouette that such construction can bring. Available now at Tresbienshop.
We previewed this collection a few weeks ago and now it has hit stores. Born in Paris in 2000, SURFACE TO AIR Paris is a creative studio and boutique operating in art, fashion, and communication. Their need for freedom and independence, and conditions for creativity, compelled them to organize around high multi-disciplinary activities and projects in the creative domains that interested them most. In April, Earnest Sewn, the premium denim purveyor, is devoting its Back Room space to the patriarchal eyewear company Moscot. The new installment will launch the two brands' collaborative collection of co-branded Buffalo Horn Moscot Lemtosh frame specs. These one-of-a-kind styles are designed with real glass and colored lenses just as they were 70 years ago. And for bragging rights, each pair will also be numbered for authenticity. INTERSECTION Magazine commissioned 6 designers and fashion labels to produce some true luxury Car Covers. In describing this project INTERSECTION states that they are "about experimenting with the way we experience cars as a part of the wardrobe of our fast paced and far ranging lives."
Working within the bounds of the silhouette which covers a vehicle, the collaborators, VISVIM, Ksubi, Bless, Maison Martin Margiela, Adam Kimmel, and Richard James, came up with some impressive looks.
Ksubi's interestingly enough is the one which looked beyond the silhouette more than most, playing with the ID'esque style rather than visual design. Very dope.

Liberty of London is set to launch their first concept flagship store for Summer 2008. Focused on showcasing the Liberty of London brand, luxury shoppers can expect an array of leather goods, scarves, swimwear, and their much discussed menswear line.
The 1800 sq/ft, two story concept store will be situated on London's Sloane Street. Liberty's creative director Tamara Salman hopes that the new concept store "will echo Liberty’s opulent past, whilst projecting a unique and contemporary vision of the brand today."
Robert Geller's history in fashion is a strong one. He graduated from RISD, made the rounds at Marc Jacobs and the moved into a position as partner and collaborator for Cloak. Geller first went out on his own in 2005 launching his women's line Harald but re-emerged into menwear in 2007 under his own name.
The Robert Geller Spring 08 collection, entitled "Beuys Dont Cry" takes from his experience growing up in Los Angeles and blends the Venice skate/surf lifestyle into a modern West Coast inspired look.

Kazuyuki Kumagai began Attachment in 1998 after having studied under the design team of Issey Miyake during the 90's. Through his work with Issey Miyake, he grew to leard and respect craftsmanship in fashion.
Now, working closely with textile makers to understand their works, Attachment has a of a purpose for developing"technical proof" in what could be done with textiles in garment development.

Geoff Mcfetridge has started his own wallpaper company called Pottok. The wallpaper is hand-printed in California using water-based inks that aren’t treated with any chemical waterproofers, making them as eco-friendly as possible. For the moment there are 8 designs up with almost all of them having multiple colorways.
The new wallpaper is being carried by Walnut Wallpaper. On Thursday night they will be celebrating their new LA location as well as the start of Pottok. Via Kitsune Noir.

YMC go back to 1995 when Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins began cutting patterns and creating a label of great distinction. What began in humble fashion has grown to a significantly desirable label, a label with a simple and yet creative philosophy. Their Spring/Summer collection has surfaced with a it's usual 50's youth culture influences but with a modern rockabily twist that creates an impressive and individual feel to the line which is available now at NewDandyism.
We have previewed Wood Wood, the brand that Karl-Oskar built, quite a bit lately. But thats because this brand is really making moves over the last year and is poised to explode. The much-hyped crew from Roskilde's graffiti milieu know how to shift hoodies like no other. The right logo, the right price and Denmark´s hippest streetwear takes off. Bayicon of Sweden is one of those lines that isnt clear on how to describe itself. As they put it, "We prefer to put clothes in two categories: nice or not so nice and then it is up to each and one to decide which side we are on."
Either way, the full Fall 08 collection has been previewed and shows us their diverse offering: Goretex Windbreakers, hemp jeans, trouser jackets, shoes, and more.
