Antiquorum's 100 Years of Rolex Sale.

We here at Selectism love watches; especially those with names like "Submariner" and "Daytona." Clearly we're talking about Rolex. So when we discovered that Antiquorum was throwing a shindig for Rolex's 100th birthday, we knew it would be exceptional.

“Revolution: The Evolution of the Rolex Sport Watch” is happening on April 17th at Antiquorum’s US  headquarters located at 595 Madison Avenue in NYC. This is not your typical watch auction. With over a dozen prototypes, samples, and special makeup Rolex pieces, this collection will floor any Rolex aficionado.

My personal favorite “SBS” Submariner Ref. 5517" (seen above) was a special makeup for the British Special Boat Service during the 1970's. With an pre-auction estimate around $100,000US, I'll need a wad pronto.

If you live in Geneva, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, LA, or NYC, you're in luck. Antiquorum will be previewing the collection in these select cities. Think of it like a touring Rolex Museum. Don't sleep.

Fashion

Designer David Saunders, aka David David, has begun to make quite an impression. For his Spring/Summer collection he matches traditional tailoring and sportswear inspired clothes with his trademark vivid print. Although he utilizes his prints in a very bold way, there are plenty of more subtle pieces in the collection to pair them with.

Jelte van Geest's Grand Chair

For all the dad's and grand dads who may need some help in putting your child to sleep, Jelte van Geest's  grad project, Grand Chair, looks to be the solution.

The Grand Chair not only save the knee from having to rock the child but also harnesses the child seat onto a swivel when you feel like putting the spin on.

A great idea that brings modernism to even the biggest couch potato. Save a knee. Rock that child.

Kim Jones Joins Dunhill

Fashion

WWD is reporting that Kim Jones, the British men's wear designer, has been named creative director of Dunhill, and will give up his own label to focus on the brand. Although we'll be disappointed to see his collection put on hiatus, it will be exciting to see what he can do with a classic brand like Dunhill. "For me, this is a great opportunity to bring home the message I have constantly projected of London as the men's wear capital of the world," Jones told WWD, "Dunhill is perfect as Alfred was a true modernist. It is a privilege to work with an English luxury goods house specializing in men's wear." Via WearetheMarket and WWD.

New Men's floor at Bloomingdales

Stores

As much as I hold department store shopping in disdain, there are some chains trying very hard to appeal to the modern male consumer. On the heels of the success of the Soho Bloomingdales, Bloomies has gutted and redesigned the sub-basement at the 59th and Lexington store in NYC to hold a new contemporary sportswear and denim department. It will house a slew of designer denim labels and more importantly designers like Trovata and Nicholas K. Via The Shop Hound.

Phenomenal Beyond Description JAPAN

Fashion

During my last day at AGENDA Show in San Diego, Frank and I took our regular morning run for a breakfast burrito at Lucy's. While sitting there, we met Tim from The Park who introduced us to some of the finest "quasi-vintage" jewelry we'd ever seen.

Phenomenal Beyond Description (Japan) uses US minted coins from 1960-1964 (those with the highest silver content produced by the US Mint) to form and develop a jewelry line like no other.

Designer Kazz, who is based in Japan, re-purposes US silver coins to form braided silver bands, rings, and even press skull works. How he keeps his supply of coins streaming is anyone's guess.

We've included some preview photos of the Sping 08 offer. Be sure to visit their website for even more soon.

Well worth checking out: www.pbd.ne.jp .
