The Stylish Billionaire

While it often seems impossible to make money in the fashion business, Forbes magazine has shown us otherwise. Their recent issue profiled several fashion billionaires, including Bernard Arnault (25B), Francois Pinault ($17B), And Ralph Lauren, pictured here, (a mere $4B). "While you know the brands, the designers and the supermodels, chances are, you've never heard of the people actually running the show. Despite bankrolling the tastes of millions--and making billions doing so--their names remain largely unknown," the article says, Watch the Video: The Stylish Billionaire. Forbes via WeAreTheMarket

15 Spring Bags for Guys

Selectism - 15 Spring Bags for Guys

Our good friends over at R29 have published a nice Spring guide to mens bags. "It used to be that a man's bare hands would suffice to ensure his day-to-day success. Whether wrestling up dinner or fashioning WMD thwarting devices (ie: paperclips and ABC gum), men for the most part have been expected to rely on brawn and brains to sustain themselves. But that was well before the advent of the "murse" threatened to soften those hard-earned calluses."

Brooks Limited Edition Swallow For NYC Bicycle Film Festival

Other

brooks nyc bicycle film festival - highsnobiety

Brooks England announces collaboration with the New York City Bicycle Film Festival with the release of a limited edition Swallow.  Only one hundred special Swallow models, manufactured with British racing green leather and each bearing an authentic serial number of authenticity, will be available to the public.  Proceeds from sales will benefit the 8th annual Bicycle Film Festival which runs from May 28th through June 1st.

BFF Limited Edition Green Swallow features the original steel metalwork and bares a tensioning plate on the underside of the saddle which still features the original patenting information. The Swallow retains the word DEPOSÉ, meaning REGISTERED in French, on its tensioning plate. This was added, originally, as many of the saddles were exported to the continent for the use of racers and tourers alike.

The first Swallow was patented on August 20th 1936, a time when all Tour de France riders used Brooks saddles. Legends such as Girardengo, Bottecchia, Bartali, Coppi and Anquetil all rode Brooks saddles to victory and the coveted yellow jersey. Back then the arrival of the handcrafted Swallow was heralded as revolutionary as it was the first 'cut away' saddle design, giving greater freedom of leg movement to the sportive cyclist.

The 100 BFF Limited Edition Green Swallows retail for 250 $ and are sold exclusively in cooperation with the BFF in NY during the festival.

NYT: Subtract Just a Little Gray.

Selectism - NYT: Subtract a Little Gray

NYT has an article about the dreaded graying effect that hits most men as they get into their early 30's. Rather than simply coloring away the gray, a new movement has hit which looks to restore the salt and pepper look that is coming in these early stages. One gentleman's "colorist introduced him to Color Camo by Redken for Men, a product offered only in salons that is said to add subtle ash or gold tones to gray hair so it blends in with the remaining natural color. About 60 percent of Mr. Hayman’s locks have gone gray, but Color Camo reduces his silver to a few modest streaks, he said, explaining that “I can choose how much gray remains and it looks natural.”
