WHITELABEL Spring/Summer 2009

Fashion

Selectism - WHITELABEL Spring/Summer 2009

From Scandinavia (surprise!) comes WHITELABEL; a new menswear line which looks ot cater to "people that share and appreciate our references and sources of inspiration." The line is subtle and simple and gets it name from the bootleg vinyl that used to run rampant in London and beyond. "The white label is a pure, untainted by everything surrounding it. Minimal..."

Ralph Lauren Olympic recap

Fashion

We got looks at the Ralph Lauren US Olympic Opening Ceremony wardrobes in the form of drawings and on mannequins over the last couple of months, but with last Friday's official Opening Ceremony we finally got to see them on America's finest. There has been a slue of criticism all over the web about how the Polo logo dwarfed the Olympic rings and about the quality (or lack of quality) of the garments. I personally think it is all being overblown. Regardless, I think the United States was represented well in their classic sportswear, while other countries looked like they were in ethnic costumes and superhero get-ups.

Junk De Luxe Spring 2009 Preview

Fashion

Selectism - junk De Luxe Spring 2009 Preview

Junk de Luxe's history goes back for decades. Founder Thomas Gundorp was importing used Levis into Europe to work his magic in re-imaging and re-fashioning them for sale. Customizing denim is still important to the business to Junk de Luxe but today they have full season collections for men and women. Junk de Luxe's Spring 2009 collection for men "are stylistic references to a young self conscious and ironic Woody Allen, neurotic casual tailoring, cool couture sportswear and groovy, optimistic seventies. The designs are untraditional and edgy where each garment can stand on its own, rather than being dictated by commercial fashion clichés or trends."

Real Japan Blues Chambray Shirt

Fashion

Selectism - Real Japan Blues Chambray Shirt

The quality of this Real Japan Blues Chambray Shirt is what is drawing our praise at the moment. As Self Edge describes it,  "This shirt appears to be salmon colored but is actually made up of 7 different colors of yarn, none of which are the color of the shirt." A very All American look but in a garment that has the fit and feel of Japanese quality and detail. Mother of Pearl buttons and all. Available now at Self Edge.

Beams+ Chambray Work Shirt

Fashion

highsnobiety - Beams+ Chambray Work Shirt

Beams+ is part of the Japanese retailer Beams, and operates under the "American Life Shop" slogan. The shop brings American brands with heritage to Japan and presents every once in a while interesting collaborations with such brands and produces as well their own goods.

This weekend Beams+ released their own branded "Chambray Work Shirts". They present the classic shirts in two colorways and as usual every detail is just right. From the bottons to the pockets, we have nothing to complain. Just a great shirt that will never go out of style.

Fall Campaign Roundup

Fashion

Selectism - Fall Campaign Roundup

I love ad campaigns. I'm an Adsoftheworld junkie to be honest. Like everything fashion, you need some drive to get the word out. Fashion ad campaigns are usually some of the boldest when it comes to style, celebrity, and emotion. Men.style thinks so too. Check out their Campaign Roundup for Fall 2008 which is a nice refresher on what you missed in the mags. All that's missing is a poll (hint).
