Talking manufacture, design, collaborations and not following the herd with Kenneth MacKenzie
![]()
Despite this, the upside of the writing about manufacturing boom is the rise of people who are interested in quality manufacture, something which benefits 6876. "I've got this strong feeling that people want quality. They want an intrigue in the garment but they're willing to buy it. They've been so educated for the last 25 years by magazines and blogs. I think they (mainstream stores) would be quite shocked if someone said I don't want you to copy Cabourn. I'm just gonna buy it. And who's to say that your ordinary punter who's not that into fashion will actually want that? And this guy really isn't gonna want it because he wants the real deal. At the moment that's the most encouraging thing."
And with a set of collaborations in the works, a rolling product own label and consultation all on the go, it's important to Kenneth that it's all natural and believable. "Sometimes you can do a crazy collaboration and it'll work. For myself I think its good that people just naturally think it's good. It's been really hard work to get it sorted and I'm convinced that it can be something quite strong. So hopefully most things we do like that just work naturally" From the looks of things, they'll do just fine. |
