Being Here is Better than Wishing We’d Stayed

This Miss Rockaway Armada is a group of artists, musicians and explorers who spent the summers of 2006 and 2007 travelling the Mississippi river on junk rafts. Inspired by traveling theater groups and the stories of Mark Twain, the group is united by a desire to create. This desire has been manifested in a multimedia interactive exhibition, Being Here is Better Than Wishing We’d Stayed, at Mass MoCA. Mass Moca is the largest contemporary art space in the United States, and this is the first collaborative project for the Miss Rockaway fleet.
