Phantom Sightings: Art After the Chicano Movement covers 125 works of the most cutting edge Chicano Art ever presented. Painting, video, sculture, print and performance art are all included, combining to create a broad scope of the vibrant scene. Traditionally, Chicano art is defined as produced by Americans of Mexican descent, established as a political movement during the 1960s and 1970s. Interaction with urban spaces drives most of the material, and the range of approach covers a massive swath of artistic endeavor.

Phantom Sightings is on view at LA County Museum of Art until September 1. The exhibition is a accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog. 14 of the pieces in the installation are on view in a slide show on the museum’s website.
